Pick the pattern in your own contract. If your employer runs a half-day Friday, count it as a working day and adjust the hours separately.
Both endpoints are included, so 1 March to 31 March returns 31 calendar days. This matches how notice periods, probation and leave are normally counted in employment contracts. If you need the gap between two dates rather than the span, subtract one.
Holiday dates differ by country and several — including Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha — move each year with the lunar calendar, so they are entered as a number rather than guessed. Count only the holidays that fall on days you would otherwise have worked; a holiday landing on your weekend does not add a day off.
