How Calcnate's Calculators Are Built

Calcnate produces money figures — gratuity, end-of-service, notice pay, leave encashment, redundancy and more — so accuracy is not optional. This page explains exactly where each formula comes from, how we check it, and how we keep it current.

1. Every formula is sourced from primary law

We do not invent numbers or copy them from other calculators. Each calculator implements the actual statute for that country, and every tool page names the exact law and links the source. Our primary sources include:

CountryPrimary legal source
UAEFederal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 & MOHRE (u.ae, mohre.gov.ae); ILOE scheme (iloe.ae)
Saudi ArabiaLabour Law & HRSD / Qiwa (hrsd.gov.sa, qiwa.sa), incl. the 2025 amendments
QatarLabour Law No. 14 of 2004 (Al Meezan — almeezan.qa)
KuwaitLabour Law No. 6 of 2010 (PAM / manpower.gov.kw)
BahrainLabour Law No. 36 of 2012 (LMRA)
OmanLabour Law, Royal Decree 53/2023 (decree.om)
IndiaPayment of Gratuity Act 1972 & Maternity Benefit Act 1961 (indiacode.nic.in)
PhilippinesLabor Code & RA 11210 (lawphil.net, dole.gov.ph)
UKEmployment Rights Act / statutory redundancy & notice (gov.uk)
CanadaProvincial Employment Standards Acts (ESA)
AustraliaFair Work Act & National Employment Standards (fairwork.gov.au)

Where the government portal is not directly citable, we corroborate against established law firms that cite the specific article number (for example DLA Piper, Clyde & Co, King & Spalding, Pinsent Masons, Trowers & Hamlins).

2. The two-source rule

Before a figure ships, at least two independent authoritative sources must agree on it. When sources conflict — as they sometimes do after a recent amendment — we flag the conflict and do not guess; if we cannot resolve which figure is current, we do not publish that calculator until we can, and we say so on the related guide.

3. Reviewed and updated when the law changes

Labour laws change — the UAE's 2021 overhaul, Saudi Arabia's 2025 amendments and Oman's 2023 law are recent examples. When a law changes we update the affected calculators and their "How it is calculated" tables, and we carry a review date so you can see how current a tool is.

4. Your data never leaves your device

Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. We do not send your salary or inputs to any server — there is nothing to store and nothing to leak.

5. Estimates, not legal advice

Calcnate results are estimates for general guidance only and are not legal or financial advice. Real settlements can be affected by contract terms, free-zone rules (e.g. DIFC/ADGM), unpaid leave, and employer-specific policies. For a binding figure, confirm with the relevant labour ministry or a qualified professional.
