Bahrain Leave Encashment 2026: The 30-Day, Gross-Salary Rule

→ Open the Bahrain Leave Encashment Calculator

Bahrain's annual leave accrues steadily and, when unused, is paid out on your full gross salary.

The entitlement

Article 58 gives every employee 30 days of paid annual leave per year, accruing at 2.5 days per month of service.

The wage basis

Leave — and its encashment — is calculated on your gross salary, meaning basic pay plus fixed allowances like housing and transport. This is a wider base than the one used for Bahrain's notice-period payment in lieu, which only counts basic wage plus the social allowance.

Worked example

BHD 500 gross salary, 15 unused leave days: (500 ÷ 30) × 15 = BHD 250.
