How to Calculate Canadian Vacation Pay

→ Open the Canada Vacation Pay Calculator

The steps

  1. Find your rate: Ontario 4% under 5 years / 6% at 5+. Federal 4% (1–5 yrs) / 6% (5–10) / 8% (10+).
  2. Apply it to your gross wages for the entitlement year (or the wages the pay is owed on).

Worked example

Federal, 11 years' service, $60,000 gross: rate = 8% → $60,000 × 0.08 = $4,800. In Ontario the same person would be at 6% = $3,600.

The vacation pay calculator picks the right rate for you.
