How to Calculate Saudi Maternity Pay
Since the 2025 change, Saudi maternity leave is a flat 12 weeks at full pay. Here is exactly what that comes to, with a worked example.

Saudi maternity pay is now refreshingly simple: 12 weeks (84 days) at 100% of salary, with no tenure tiers. Here is how to size it.
Step 1 — Find your daily wage
Daily wage = Monthly salary ÷ 30
Step 2 — Pay 84 days at full rate
12 weeks is 84 calendar days, all at full pay:
Maternity pay = Daily wage × 84
Because it is a flat full-pay period, this equals roughly 2.8 months' salary (84 ÷ 30).
Worked example
Monthly salary SAR 9,000.
| Step | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Daily wage | 9,000 ÷ 30 | SAR 300 |
| 84 days at full pay | 300 × 84 | SAR 25,200 |
Lookup table (12 weeks / 84 days, full pay)
| Monthly salary | Daily wage | Maternity pay (84 days) |
|---|---|---|
| SAR 4,000 | 133 | SAR 11,200 |
| SAR 6,000 | 200 | SAR 16,800 |
| SAR 9,000 | 300 | SAR 25,200 |
| SAR 15,000 | 500 | SAR 42,000 |
The sick-newborn extension
If your newborn needs continuous care, add a further one month at full pay (30 × daily wage) plus one month unpaid. At SAR 9,000 that extra paid month is 300 × 30 = SAR 9,000. Enter your salary in the Saudi maternity leave calculator for the exact figure. The leave counts toward your end-of-service service.
Comparing it to the UAE
It is worth seeing the two Gulf systems side by side, because the shape is different even where the goal is the same. Saudi Arabia now pays a flat 84 days at 100% — roughly 2.8 months of salary, all at full rate. The UAE pays 60 days, but only the first 45 are at full pay and the last 15 at half, so the effective full-pay equivalent is about 52.5 days. On identical salaries, the Saudi entitlement is both longer and paid at a higher effective rate. If you are comparing job offers across the two countries, maternity provision is one line where Saudi Arabia currently comes out ahead.
Key takeaways
- Daily wage = monthly salary ÷ 30.
- 84 days (12 weeks) all at full pay.
- That equals roughly 2.8 months of salary.
- A sick-newborn adds one more full-pay month plus one unpaid.
- The leave counts as continuous service toward end-of-service.
