The UAE regulates private-sector end-of-service benefits under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, in force since February 2022. Employees who complete at least one year of continuous service are entitled to a gratuity calculated on their basic salary: 21 days' pay for each of the first five years, and 30 days' pay for every year after that, capped at two years' total wages.
A key change from the older labour law is that resignation no longer reduces gratuity — anyone who resigns after one year receives the same calculation as someone who is terminated. Most free zones (JAFZA, DMCC, DAFZA and others) follow the same federal formula; DIFC and ADGM run their own separate employment regimes.
Below are Calcnate's UAE calculators and guides — estimate your gratuity, or your full final settlement including leave encashment, notice pay and pending salary.
