Oman overhauled its end-of-service gratuity rules with Royal Decree 53/2023. For service from August 2023 onward, employees earn a full month of basic salary for every year of service — a more generous flat rate than before.

Anyone who started before August 2023 has their earlier service calculated under the previous formula (15 days per year for the first three years, then one month per year), with the two periods added together. A minimum of one year of continuous service is required, and gratuity is based on basic salary only.
